ABOUT THE BOOK

At the Arctics, the summer solstice means it’s time for Sea, Pen and Pob’s epic annual picnic. But what is this! Their beautiful icy picnic spot has vanished without a trace. What will they do now? Where will they celebrate their favourite summer day? Find out how the best friends spot a silver lining and cope with change, in this heart melting tale of hope and optimism.

DID YOU KNOW?

Every year around June 21-22, the Arctic gets 24 hours of daylight . There is no sunset or night. This phenomena, called the Midnight Sun, marks the longest day of the year.

The word arctic is derived from the Greek word Arktos meaning ‘Bear’. It is a polar region located at the northernmost part of Earth and consists of the Arctic Ocean, adjacent seas, and parts of 8 different counties.

At the North Pole 24 time zones collide at a single point and so there is no specific time zone to follow. The explorers and polar expeditions are free to choose whatever time zones are convenient for them.

The Arctic has huge ice floes and sea ice. The age of the oldest Alaskan glacier ice ever recovered is about 30,000 years old.

The Arctic is warming about 4 times faster than the rest of the earth. Studies suggest that it could see its first ice-free summer day by 2050.
